SHINee World Concert Singapore 2011: Chaos Before The Moment

The first time I started paying attention to Kpop was when I saw the charismatic never give up look on Minho's face on the first episode of Dream Team. That was where my journey of becoming a part of SHINee World started.

I've waited so long to see them in person. Called one of the best live performing idol groups, all I wanted was to listen to them sing live. There were many many chances along the way but all the time, always, something else just gets in the way of my boys and me. It was heartbreaking. Wanting something so badly and when you can almost touch it, it starts to fade away. It happened so many times I fear for our fate. Was I destined never to be able to see them in person?

SHINee World Concert Singapore 10th of September 2011, Singapore Indoor Stadium.

I was prepared on the day they announced that my boys will be having their solo concert in Singapore. I told myself, "This is it" but then again, thats what I tell myself every single time. I got a Singaporean friend to buy my ticket online and made sure he woke up in time to do it. And then I got my moshpit ticket. I got the same person to queue up to preorder my merchandise at FLY Ent's office and made sure he went early.

And because of that, I had my ticket and merchandise. Everything seemed very smooth, too smooth that I was afraid something will take it away from me..again. I took 2 days leave from my work, approved. I bought my bus ticket, had a place to stay and then came Thursday 8th September.

10.45am bus, I made sure I wasn't late. During that 5 hours bus ride, I was afraid. When I reached Singapore itself, I kept thinking, "Its really happening..its really happening". The moment my bus stopped, I took a train to the stadium where 2 Indonesian girls in my queue group were already there. We were the 2nd group to queue. We chatted awhile and time just flew pass. I then went to meet my brother for dinner with CK, James and I forgot his name. LOL.

Went back to my bro's place and had to sleep in a room with a girl whom I have only met 2 times. It was pretty awkward and I was feeling bad since she shared a room with her boyfriend and then her boyfriend has to bunk in with his brother in another room. =/

Before that I received smses from a few of my queue group members saying that the security guard are chasing everyone away because RITS has suddenly changed the rule to no overnight queuing allowed from overnight queuing highly discouraged. Somehow everyone kept asking me what they should do. I was worried for them so I asked them to go back to their hotel first and come again the next day to check out the situation.

Next day, 9th September, Friday. I went to the stadium in the morning and saw that the moshpits queue has changed to a different section. Basically its like a gathering at an open area, both Pen A and Pen B were there. The 2 Indonesian girls, Yui and Fiona, left for Universal Studios when I arrived. Chatted with some of the Shawols there and waited for time to pass. I was suffering that day because I was suddenly hit by a weird flu bug. My nose was practically leaking and I used up 2 packets of tissues in less than 15 minutes. I had to go to the toilet and use the toilet paper to blow my nose.

Left at around 3.30pm when Aara and Jeans came. Bought Panadol Flu Max to cure my leaking nose. Went back to shower and pack for overnighting while waiting for my bro to come back. Left for dinner at 18 Chefs with an Egg, Fong and a different I forgot his name. LOL. My nose was still leaking and it was red and painful. We tried to look for a pharmacy but there was none. Useless Panadol Flu Max. Instructions were to not take more than 8 tablets within 24 hours. I too 9 tablets within 10 hours.

After dinner was back to stadium. So many other groups arrived that night. Probably more than 150 people were there when I arrived at night and these people are only the representatives of their group. Amen. That was when we had problem with the security guard. They said that its like an illegal gathering bla bla bla so by 1am we have to clear the place. We can be anywhere except on the Stadium premises. A few of them came and gave us different information saying the management kept saying different things at different time.

At 1am, everyone dispersed. Because the train has stopped, those in Pen B just slept outside the MRT station, with the approval of the MRT security. Those in Pen A dispersed into smaller groups to take over the taxi stands and bus stops. My group also had to sleep by the road side. Before that I was talking to the guards asking them why we can't queue overnight and all those stuff. I also made a sad story saying that we are foreigners and we didn't book hotel because at first RITS only said that overnight queuing is highly discouraged and we have no internet connection so suddenly changing rules, we didn't even know until locals told us about it and now the train has stopped, we are young and have no money to book hotel bla bla bla.

Wahh, damn sad right my story? Its actually pretty much facts. My group itself consist of 10 girls including me. 2 from Indonesia, 1 from Vietnam, I'm from Malaysia, the rest Singaporean. After that he told us that he can't do anything because its not his decision so we went to sleep at the roadside. Lucky 1 of the girls brought 3 mats so we laid it out. The Indonesians brought sleeping bags. The guard probably felt sorry for us after the sad story, he brought alot of bottles of water and gave them to us free. LOL.

At around 4am, most of us were awake, just stoning and checking out the entrance. I barely slept at all because of all the noise from the taxis passing. At around 5am, taxis started coming and people started coming. We were told by the guards that official queue starts at 10am and we can only start queuing around 8am but these people who came in the early morning, those idiotic people who were complaining so much to RITS about banning overnight queuing and all those nonsense, came and sat at the entrance.

Somehow, we managed to be in front of the queue though. From dusk to dawn, the sun came up. There were so many people there and that was when we were told by one of the management guy that this is not the official queue and they may change the place of the queue. At around 9am, he came and told us to stand up and follow him so we followed. That was when those stupid bitches from behind who came only in the morning started running from behind to the front! It was chaotic! Everyone started running because of that and they pushed people away.

The first 2 groups since Thursday which includes my group somehow managed to keep our 1st and 2nd spots all the way. Those bitches kept pushing pushing pushing and I got so annoyed that I just elbowed them. It was crazy messy and those who have been overnighting got really pissed at those who came in the morning for their behaviour. Many of us were foreigners, some from Myanmar, Japan, Korea, China etc. And we were tired from not sleeping already.

We were led in 3 lines. Nearing the entrance of Pen A, 3 lines turned into 2. The ones in the front of the 1st and 2nd line were our own people but the 3rd line was those bitches. When it turned into 2 lines, they started pushing and cutting the queue. I was pissed so I raised my voice to them, right in front of the management guy who was leading us. I could see that he was annoyed as well.

But we were still at the front in the end. Wrist tags were given out at 11am, collected my merchandise at 12pm and I got my concert tee! They were stupid to have only gotten 200 tees when theres 6,000 fans. After getting everything, went back home. I didn't feel like leaving because the boys were already in the stadium doing their rehearsals! And their voices can be heard from outside! And it was so heavenly! But then I was smelly and sweaty and I wanted to be fresh for the concert so I went back.

My brother only reaches back at 2.15pm so I had to sit at the staircase and wait for him to come back to open the door. They suddenly said that they will open doors at 3.30pm instead of 4.30pm! I was rushing like crazy and started running the moment I reached there. Luckily, nothing changed eventhough I was late for 10 minutes. I was in panic state as the time draws nearer.

My heart was beating so damn fast. I managed to get a Minho hand banner from the girl in the first group since she wasn't Minho biased. Lightstick check, towel check, banner check, ticket check, concert tee check. And we were allowed to go in at 4.30pm. We had the time to see where we wanted to stand in the moshpit which was good. I stood at the extended stage area. I started getting really sleepy while waiting. The lights dimmed at 6pm sharp.
